Costume of Vale d'Este
Female costume of festivity from Baixo-Minho region, north of Portugal.
Garments: shirt embroidered in red and black with lace at the collar and sleeves, linen vest or bodice hand embroidered in black. Black wool skirt with black velvet appliqués embroidered with black beads. Apron made of traditional loom.
This costume is worn with a white tulle veil embroidered at the tips, Under the head a small black hat. On the feet: lace socks and black slepers or "chinelas".
