|Other information||The handkerchiefs known in this region as “coxinés”, or "cachenés", sometimes have different meanings depending on the context and place. For some, they are accepted as merino wool scarves that come in various colours and were embroidered in silk thread. These handkerchiefs also know the designation of "lenços de retrós" (because they are embroidered in this technique) or "amarelinhos" (due to the colour). They were used in popular women's clothing, in a social and religious context and not so much associated with agricultural work. Tied in different ways, the scarves “speak” for the women who wear them. Depending on the functions you are performing, your personality traits, your moods, for the purpose of dressing up or to beautify during festive or “Sunday” moments.|
